What Is A Styled Photo Shoot, And Why Would You Want One?
3 Chicks That Click Photography specializes in business headshots. Lately we’ve been exploring a more creative side – the styled shoot! Yes, we are pushing out of our comfort zone to offer more options for our clients. Don’t we all have an inner imagination just looking to break out of the every day ordinary?
These kinds of sessions are developed to inspire the creative power of the participants. They also create and build networking among artistic and imaginative people, to develop a portfolio that goes beyond the norm.
There is no requirement that a client be a professional model. All the client needs is their inspiration, enthusiasm and a willingness to share their dream!
Collaboration is a wonderful thing, and we have amazing artists and retailers that we work with. In this Mardi Gras themed image of Jolie, the mask came from a local craft store, the jewelry was from Refinemint Boutique, a consignment shop, and the background came from a retiring photographer.
The fabulous ball gown belonged to the client, who bought it for a special event and only wore it once. Seeing that gown inspired the theme for the session – Mardi Gras!

What Can We Create?
There is no limit on what could be considered a styled photo shoot. Consider steampunk, cosplay or historical reenactments. There is also no limit on how much preparation can go into a styled session. The collaboration includes the photographer, the client/model, the hair/makeup artist, a clothing boutique, the location, etc.
Word of mouth is a powerful marketing tool. All of my styled clients in the last year have been people I’ve known personally or approached after meeting at a networking event. Sharing ideas and marketing benefits everyone involved.
