What Defines Diamond Studded Customer Service? Relationships!

Jovi Jewelry Can Create Any Custom Designed Engagement Ring

What Defines Diamond Studded Customer Service? Relationships!

A recent couple whose wedding we photographed bought their engagement and wedding rings from a local jeweler, Jovi Fine Jewelry in Middletown, NJ. I had been familiar with Jovi Jewelry and their owners, Yoel and Susan, for over six years, having belonged to a gym in the same shopping plaza. I considered myself a casual customer, as I would get watch batteries replaced, as well as minor jewelry repairs done. The staff was always friendly and helpful, their customer service was great, and it was a convenient stop before or after a workout.

Eventually, I joined another gym, but continued to make special stops there when my watches and jewelry needed attention. There were other jewelry stores that were closer to my home, and even the local grocery store had a small jeweler ensconced near the checkout lanes. Very convenient, but I didn’t know the owners, if there were even owners on site, or just employees.

Selecting the wedding rings!

One day I was in Jovi Jewelry, having my wedding ring cleaned, when I heard familiar voices behind me. I turned, and saw Laura and Anthony, an adorable couple whose wedding I was going to photograph in less than 6 months. They were there to choose their wedding bands, having bought Laura’s engagement ring the previous year. It was a really fun moment, which I captured on my cell phone camera – yes, even a professional photographer doesn’t always carry all their gear around, and a cell phone will do in a pinch.

I knew that purchasing an engagement ring, and wedding rings, is a commitment not only to two people getting married, but also to the jeweler. Excellent customer service, follow up care, and commitment to providing the best products was evident with Jovi Jewelry, both in my experiences with them, and knowing my wedding clients felt the same way.

After Laura and Anthony’s wedding, I presented Yoel and Susan with mounted, enlarged prints of those beautiful rings, so they could display them in their store.

My feelings were twofold – to thank them for indirectly connecting 3 Chicks That Click Photography with Laura and Anthony, and to show that I would love to continue to provide them with quality images of their jewelry, hoping that future engaged couples would admire the images on display and make a purchase. Yoel and Susan offered to let me leave business cards in the store, and they were very generous in handing them out to admirers of the images. I also promoted the store and tagged the images on the 3 Chicks Facebook page, to drive traffic to both their Facebook page and their physical store.

One day I stopped in the store to have our own wedding rings cleaned, and to have my husband’s ring re-sized. When I went back to pick them up, I was told that a tiny 1 point diamond in my band had been missing; it was so small I hadn’t noticed. Not only was the cleaning and resizing complimentary, I wasn’t charged for the diamond replacement either! I was very touched, and told Yoel and Susan I would like to continue promote their store on my Facebook page, in my newsletter and blog, and to offer them branded gift certificates to present to their newly engaged couples towards any wedding photography package.

We’re also looking to do a professional photo shoot of their store and products, to continue to build the relationship that began as business-to-customer, and has progressed to business-to-business-to-customer. With customer service, it’s all about how we can help each other, and our customers!

Top 5 Wedding Tips for Brides, Grooms, and Everyone Involved!

Wedding planning season is in full swing. Arrangements are being made – photographer, cake provider, and DJ are being booked as gowns are being fitted, flowers ordered and gift registries organized. It’s a busy, exciting time for newly engaged couples. It can also be a challenging time with all the decisions to be made, budgets to be met and people to please.

With that in mind, 3 Chicks That Click wants to offer these tips for newly engaged couples which will make the big day run smoothly with less stress and more fun.

1. Hire actual wedding professionals – this is really important!

Here are several of our favorite, highly recommended wedding professionals. Be sure to let them know you found them on the 3 Chicks That Click blog, and receive special offers!

When you’re considering photographers, DJs, caterers, and florists – this is not the time to let your best friend from college showcase her photography hobby. Do you have an aunt that loves to bake? Her desserts at family parties may win raves, but can she handle the schedule, the volume, the serving, and the expectations of your wedding guests? Be honest – probably not. It seems like everyone is a DJ these days, but is your neighbor’s teenage son and his iPod really capable of keeping a wedding celebration going for 5 hours? Doing formal introductions? Keeping the guests entertained and on their feet?

Booking experts in their field is the best way to ensure things are handled flawlessly.

We have our own in-house Videography team to save you money! Call us today about video.

These DJs are so amazing, they played *my* wedding! Contact Dave today!

2. Carry cash on the wedding day

Be sure to have enough cash on hand at the end of the wedding. There are always more gratuities than you expect – extra helpful waitstaff, valets, bartenders, coat check people, wedding coordinator, banquet manager, etc. Have your maid of honor and/or best man bring cash and/or credit cards for the unexpected expenses – they always come up!

3. Have your hair and makeup session done well in advance

The week before your wedding is not the time to find out that your hair stylist or make-up artist isn’t able to give you that perfect wedding day look. Have your hair and makeup styling tested at least two months before your wedding. If you’re not comfortable with the look, there’s still plenty time to change it or find a new stylist.

5. Start any teeth whitening, fitness program or new diet plan well in advance of your wedding

Randi Serbin wedding, 5/30/10, Delray Beach, FLEveryone wants to look their absolute best for their wedding day. That’s completely understandable. The time to start ensuring you look your best is at least 3 months before the big day. That goes for teeth whitening, Bridal Boot Camp training or new diets. When having your teeth professionally whitened, carefully choose the dentist and do it several weeks before the wedding. Tooth pain or other physical issues are unwelcome, uninvited guests at your wedding. Don’t let them crash the party – get prepared to look and feel your best a few months before the big day.

Take comfort in knowing that things that may go slightly awry at weddings are not obvious to the guests. Trust us on this one! Focus on all the fabulous things that are happening, take a few moments to reflect on all the planning and preparation that led up this magnificent day, then just experience and enjoy the most wonderful time of your life!

Why it’s So Important to Book A Professional Wedding Photographer

Ryan_0208

Watch for those joyous expressions!

Are you, or someone you know, recently engaged? If so, then shopping around for a wedding photographer seems to be another item on the to-do list. However, before you think of it as just another vendor to hire, remember this: your wedding photos will be one of the most important investments of your wedding. In fact, your photos and your jewelry are the only things that truly last forever. Like the wedding jewelry, it’s worth making an investment in quality that will last a lifetime.

The saddest thing about amateur wedding photography is all the great, candid shots that are missed by someone who is not even aware of looking for them. These are moments that will never be recreated, and a group of people that will probably all never be together in the same place again.

Booking the right wedding photographer

The best way to find amazing wedding photographers is to seek out recommendations from other brides. Ask what they liked or didn’t like about their photographer. Did the photographer behave and dress appropriately for the wedding? Were they actually working throughout the entire wedding, or were they chatting with the bartenders and DJ? When did the brides actually see their wedding images? Our brides get a preview set of images the next day!

Macaluso-1606

Celebrate the quirkiness!

When you have a short list of photographers to consider, ask to see a complete wedding online, not just a few select images from their web site. Ask for references and be sure those references or any testimonials are legitimate.

After speaking with a few photographers (a few, no need to interview a dozen), ask yourself this question – if all of them were to charge the same fee, do you know who you would choose? If not, then you are shopping by price alone, instead of quality and skill. If you would answer a resounding YES to this question, then let that photographer know how much you love their images and style. Most photographers are happy to come up with custom packages that can work with your budget, as long as you are realistic about having a full time professional to photograph your wedding. These full time pros cannot, and will not, compete with prices that a craigslist photographer or a weekend hobbyist would charge.

JenniKelly-1075

Look for a different version of a posed image

When you’ve decided on one or two photographers, review their quotes carefully and be sure you’re comparing apples to apples. Think about the intangible items as well – their personalities, skills, and experience. A photographer that’s fun and loves their work, compared to someone who just shoots weddings to make a few dollars, will make your day fabulous or tedious. We’ll make it fabulous!

Capture the great candid moments!

Making an investment in a professional wedding photographer

Quite honestly, you probably can find someone on Craigslist who only charges a few hundred dollars to shoot your wedding. Are they a shoot ‘n burn photographer, the kind who will take the images directly from the camera and burn them onto a DVD without any editing or retouching? These are not album-ready images.

At the other end of the spectrum, there are many brides who have no upper limit for their imagery. That’s not just the rare exception. Why would they do so? Some brides realize that, for them, things like ice sculptures, elaborate table gifts, or a hothouse full of flowers are not permanent. They invest that money instead in a professional photographer. The end result? They get AMAZING shots that are the envy of their friends and family, and those photos are treasured for a lifetime…unlike the ice sculpture, which the restaurant staff will smash in the parking lot at the end of the night.

The bottom line when it comes to wedding photography costs: avoid shopping by price alone. The cheapest photographer is rarely the best. Thinking, “Well, at least we only paid $500 for these photos” when you’re disappointed with them will provide little comfort to you or your new spouse in years to come. And there are no do-overs.

Remember that the choice of wedding photographer is rarely made in a vacuum. Brides should consider pulling mom or dad or whomever is helping with the costs into the decision making early in the process. That way, everything is clear right away. Budget issues can be handled up front and with little stress while the bride can enjoy the planning, look forward to her big day, and dream about her perfect wedding photographs!

Taking the Best Images on Valentine’s Day

Well, it’s almost that time again! Valentine’s Day is near, and love is in the air for singles, couples and everyone in between. Regardless of romantic status, most people want to capture a memorable moment or two on that special day with a image. So, when the time is right and the image is about to be taken, whether you hand your camera off to someone else or take a picture together with your phone, 3 Chicks That Click Photography has a few tips on how to create the best images on Valentine’s Day.

In any image, but especially where people are the main subject, good lighting is a must. For most indoor images, you’ll likely use a flash when taking the image, unless there is enough ambient (existing) light. If using a point ‘n shoot camera or smartphone, go into the camera settings and choose “portrait” or a similar person-oriented setting. The lighting and focus in the image will be greatly improved.

JoanKelly-1002

Classic Valentine’s Day images that people enjoy are the gifts, flowers, chocolates, jewelry, etc. Such close-up detail shots can be a lot of fun and make for cherished images. Consider combining or juxtaposing the gifts or jewelry in a unique arrangement. Get in close for the picture and use the ring or gift as the focal point to show it off. Don’t be afraid to get creative with props and positioning. Trying new things can often lead to rewarding images.

LauraAnthonyProposal-1

When taking a “couples” image in front of roaring fireplace, make sure you have a steady surface, and if possible, soft lighting. Set the camera’s self timer and use a remote shutter release if possible so the camera is perfectly steady. Any motion that shakes it, even slightly, can create a blurred image. Reduce the shutter speed to capture soft, ambient light. When we do a shoot for couples – Valentine’s Day, engagement, wedding, etc. – we bring our light stands and soft boxes to modify the light and create the most complimentary diffusion. Often we’ll use a second light also add glow and atmosphere to the setting.

The most memorable Valentine’s Days are the ones with the best memories captured in images that last a lifetime. Much like a wedding, Valentine’s Day is here for a moment, then gone. The candy gets eaten, the flowers wilt, but the images remain, and they’re priceless! When taking your special images this year, keep our tips in mind, or better yet, just contact us for your Valentine’s Day photography, so you can relax and enjoy.
